Joey’s Thousand Island Club
Today, nestled on approximately 12 acres on the eastern end of Wellesley Island, New York, sits one of the jewels of the St. Lawrence River. Envisioned and begun by hotel magnate George C. Boldt, the owner of the Waldorf and Stratford Hotels, the Thousand Island Club catered to not only the societies elite but for people from all walks of life.
The Thousand Islands Club as we know it today was completed by the summer of 1923. While Mr. Boldt himself died in 1916, his son-in-law Alfred Graham Miles and Edward John Noble, the inventor of Lifesavers, Inc. along with Canada Steamship Lines and the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority, purchased his estate in 1922 and announced it was their intention to complete, as far as possible, the plans originally developed by the late George C. Boldt. The T.I. Club, The Club, as it was also known has an illustrious past that includes being one of the most prominent Country and Polo Clubs of its day.
The realization of Mr. Boldt’s dream is an amazing window into the past located in one of the most tranquil and romantic areas in the world. It now houses a highly rated restaurant owned by Joey DeCuffa of “Joey’s” of Syracuse fame who sees to it that the exceptional service and quality cuisine demanded by its past elite clientele continues today. The Restaurant serves dinners Wednesdays through Sundays, and is also used for weddings and parties of all kinds. Mr. Boldt would be proud to be associated with this top shelf establishment.
